Juneteenth Community Awards

In celebration of community leadership, the Juneteenth1865 committee will recognize local leaders. In addition to the traditional Juneteenth Awards the Juneteenth Committee are asking for nominations for the Juneteenth Community Awards sponsored by Rockford Area Convention & Visitors Bureau. Nominees must be active in Winnebago County. All nominees will be asked to attend the Juneteenth Celebration to receive their award. The winners will be announced during the Juneteenth Celebration on Sunday, June 19th. Exact time will be emailed to all nominees and nominators on a future date.  Deadline for 2022 Nominations have passed. Stay Tuned as we announce this year’s winners!

Community Awards Categories include:

Impactor Award – A local community group that makes a positive continuous impact on the lives of minority community members.

Juneteenth Advocate of the Year – Individual who has been involved in one or more projects that specifically supports the advancement of collaboration in support of Equity, Inclusion and Diversity.

Unsung Hero-An Individual who works behind the scenes to improve the region/ community. (Seeking someone who often works behind the scenes and/or has not been substantially recognized for passions and efforts)

Entrepreneur of the Year – An outstanding new entrepreneur (1-3 years)  that has shown success and has a direct benefit to the black community and our local economy, health and wellness, and/or workforce.

Faith based Leader of the Year- A faith based leader that shows a passion for the advancement of our diverse community through advocacy, support of equity, inclusion, economic mobility, wellness, collaboration, and belonging.

 

Sunday’s Best Competition

In collaboration with Tommy Meeks’ Annual Juneteenth Celebration, Live at Levings presents the Inspirational/Christian Talent Show. This talent show is for all ages who are want showcase their talent within the inspirational/Christian genre. Show your talents in areas of singing, praise dancing, acting, juggling, rapping, poetry, comedy, & more! The “Sunday’s Best” competition will take place at Sinnissippi Park at 5:30pm-6:30pm.

Awards:

1st Place :$1,000

2nd Place: $500

3rd Place: $300

1st & 2nd place winners will compete in the finals on August 21, 2022!

Miss Juneteenth Queen Pageant Competition

Become part of the Juneteenth Queen competition. This year we will be selecting a 2022 Miss Teen Juneteenth (ages 13-17) and a Miss Juneteenth Queen (ages 18-25).

Queen Competition Details:

  • Contestant must be able to showcase active community service over the years. (At least 20 volunteer hours before the day of the competition – Juneteenth)
  • Must be able to actively showcase great character and a passion for Juneteenth
  • Submit a one-page essay or 1-2  minute video on the importance of Juneteenth
  • Will be interviewed during Juneteenth. (Must be available on both Saturday, June 18th & Sunday, June 19th)
  • Winners will receive a cash prizes (Queen, Princess, & 1st Runner Up)
  • No fee to sign up.
